The best things to discover in Laos

Hello everyone,

What have you discovered in Laos that you would recommend to other expats?

Are there any places that you enjoy visiting on the weekends, be it areas of natural beauty or shopping malls? Are there any Lao dishes that you would recommend?

What are some of the best activities in Laos?

Are there any unique customs or places you were introduced to by locals that you think other expats might be interested in? Are there any local festivals that expats might want to get involved with?

Thank you for sharing your thoughts.

The coffee plantations on the Boloven plateau in Southern Lao are great.
Khon Phapeng waterfalls are worth a visit in Southern Lao too.

One can stay in Pakse, the regional capital of Southern Lao and go from there. Most hotels, guesthouses can arrange tours.

As far as food is concerned, for me any Lao food is great !!

Agree with Stumpy, the Bolaven Plateau is great. I like Vang Vieng and Luang Prabang as well.

There are places that have elephant rides and there are all sorts of different things one can do here in Laos. Rafting, bike riding etc.
Just need to take a little time and do some research.
