What are the requirements for acquiring citizenship in Sri Lanka? For example, length of residence, language requirements, employment etc..
What formalities are involved in the process?
What is the policy on dual-citizenship in Sri Lanka? Do you have to give up your former nationality?
What are the advantages and benefits of acquiring Sri lankan citizenship, in your opinion?

Hi Bhavina,
My husband has just received his Citizenship Certificate. Which now enable him to buy property in S.L. which is our goal.. to retire there.
It is all explained on the Government Website .. all application forms to be completed as well an an appointment with our local S.L. Consulate.
He is a British Citizen and Australian Resident. So no problem in getting Dual Citizenship.

Unless you are in Sri Lanka at the time. You can nominate A S.L. person to collection your certificate at the ceremony in Colombo. As long as you have given the person a written authority.
