How to bring your car to Gabon

Hello everybody,

If you exported your car to Gabon, were there any formalities that needed to be completed beforehand? What were they?

What is the best way to export your car? Is there a limit on the number of vehicles, or perhaps the age of the vehicle? Are there limits on emissions or emission controls in Gabon?

What are the expected costs of exporting a car? In your opinion, is it worth it?

Once you arrived in Gabon, what were the applicable taxes? What was the customs process like?

How do you go about registering an imported car in Gabon?

Is it best to buy a car once you have arrived or to bring your car with you, in your opinion?

We look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks Bhavna, cars are a big deal in Libreville. Sadly, the government has some restrictions in place that, may discourage you and may cause you to do a rethink severally before you may decide to wait and go with the taxi cab or taxi bus services.
Buying in Libreville may cost much more, importation may be a daredevil stunt as, you may get your vehicle impounded for jot meeting one of the extremely difficult and expensive factors listed.
Or, you just wait to buy from a friend who may be leaving the country.
Whatever you do, keep those fingers crossed.
