Do some employers tend to pay towards foreigner's work permit costs once a job offer has been made?

I believe that they do. However, a few years ago I was offered work, but told that I would have to pay for the permit and associated costs.

So it must depend on the employer ? Are you aware if there is a work permit specifically for those on a dependents pass ?
