Hi, do I need to do anything special when flying within mexico using my residente permanente card? I want to fly from Mexico City to Cancun? Do I just show that card and make the flight or do I have to take any extra steps?

The only document that you need to show on these flights is an ID. Preferably with a photo ID. INM document or passport.

I have not done it, but my understanding has been that you submit your residency card and go through lines as a resident. I am told that producing your U.S. passport while traveling in Mexico from city to city, just causes problems. It's easy to see why. I drive from place to place and when questioned, I never show anything but my residency card.
Hopefully, someone who has direct recent experience will back up what I have been told.
