G'Day,
Having lived in UK since February 1st, 2014.
12 months in Cardiff, Wales & 12 months in Reading, England - where I currently live until our next move.
Hubby and I (Empty Nesters / No Pets) are now looking towards making Southampton our permanent home of choice! It's positioned in a great Coastal location that offers a quick and easy access into London. Offers a Fabulous Shopping; a smorgasbord of Pubs, Restaurants and Entertainment including Sports.
Any information both good and bad with regards to choosing suitable areas to reside or avoid? Must be close to a train Station, Central City and Waterfront areas as we are in mid 50's Empty Nesters with No Pets Apartment living would be ok except for my hubby's Hobby as a Home-Beer-Brewer might prevent that unless a Gas Burner can be used out on a large patio and or verandah?
What are the locals like? Warm, Welcoming and Friendly OR Standoffish, Stuffy and Stiff-Upper-Lip kind?
Are they welcome to Expats and Newcomers or they prefer those born and bred in this area? Tell me it all..!
Even what the Cost of Livings like? We've only stayed overnight in a Hotel in the Center of Town for 2 days
The plan is for hubby to commute via train into Reading or London weekdays to work whilst I'll be launching my own business in Southampton that'll cater to the residence living within this lovely Solent City.
I'd Welcome communicating with any past, current or future residents; even non Expats can also reply.
It'd be my pleasure to connect and make friends with any middle aged ladies / married Couples as well.
Thank You In Advance for all and any replies!
