Jakarta is a love it or hate it city, but I love it.
The streets are a mess and there are no pavements in most of it but the place has a beating heart that makes it one of the most interesting cities I've been to.
The other main advantage is how generally safe it is with very little by way of violent crime, that probably being down to the very low level of drug use in this wonderful country.
Jobs are going to be harder work as you will have to prove you have skills unavailable from the local workforce and Indonesia has a rapidly expanding core of very well trained people.
Without that proof, and an employer willing to pay large suns of money and jump through hoops for you, you wont be able to work legally.
Working illegally is a very bad idea.
