How to make friends in the Netherlands

In general the best way to make friends starts in the workplace. Ask a co-worker to go out for a beer or go to a bar yourself.
Although the Dutch won't usually admit it, they are very proud of their country. If you show a true interest in Holland and it's ways people will open up quickly and go to great lengths to make sure you feel at home in Holland.
What you shouldn't do is compare everything openly against the country you came from. At least not in a negative way.
"Back home everything was cheaper, easier, better etc."
