Cost of living in Switzerland - 2017

Hello,

Before moving to Switzerland, it is important to investigate the cost of living in the country.

As we did in 2015, we give you the opportunity to share your experience and tell us more about products and services average recorded prices in your town/city/area.

Don't hesitate to let us know if the cost of living in Switzerland has decreased or increased in the past few years.

Thanks to your help, would-be expatriates will have the opportunity to refine and better prepare their expatriation project.

Compared with 2015.
Public transport +5%
Health insurance +10%
all else looks unchanged

I'm still new in town so here's what I can share so far:

> How much do you pay for your public transport tickets (bus, subway, train, tram)?
85 CHF monthly pass
8.8 CHF 24h ticket
4.4 CHF 1 hour ticket
2.70 CHF 5 stops ticket
5 CHF additional ticket required for night trams.

> How much do you pay for your lunch pack on weekdays?
On weekdays I have lunch in kind of a public canteen, it starts at 12 CHF for the most basic dish, where almost every item is an extra.
Avoid wine in restaurants, it's robbery.

> How much do you pay for an espresso coffee?
The very minimum I've seen is 2.5 CHF, but normally expect to pay around 4 CHF, or more.

> How much does a gym membership cost in Switzerland?
There's one "low cost" charging only 500 CHF yearly membership. Others I've seen cost 800 up to 1200 CHF a year.
