> How much does it cost to rent an apartment/house in Palau?

We're lucky and scored a place for $400/mo. Most places run $800-1200/mo. Expect to pay this much if you are just moving here. Finding something for less takes time, persistence and local (Palauan) contacts. You can also find cheaper housing outside of Koror if you don't mind a 45 minute (or more) drive into town. Petrol prices eat into your savings fairly quickly, however.

> How much do you pay for your public transport tickets (bus, subway, train, tram)?

No real public transport in Palau. The Peleliu ferry (as close as public transport that Palau has) costs $15 each way, only goes one way every other day.

> Staple food: what do people eat and how much do they pay for basic food like bread, rice or pasta?

25lb rice costs $12. Vegetables are expensive and low quality due to shipment times.

>What is your monthly grocery budget?

$400 - $600. Rarely eat out due to cost.

> How much does it cost to see a physician/doctor/specialist in Palau ?

I've been to the doctor 4 times now, it has cost me between $6 and $30, prescription medicine included, no insurance. Most specialist appointments either have to wait until a specialist visits Palau, or you have to fly to Manila or Guam.

> How much does it cost to fill up your car's fuel tank?

Petrol costs $4.25/ gallon

> How much do you pay for Electricity/gas/water etc.?

Electricity: $50/mo, no air conditioning, judicious use of fans/oven/lights/hot water.

Water: $18/mo

> How much do you pay for your Internet/phone subscription?

Internet: $100/mo for 128kB/sec service (no, that's not a typo, and yes, that's 2017 pricing) prepaid internet is $1.25/hr.
Home phone $20/mo - required for internet
Cell phone- $10-$15/mo from prepaid cards ($.06/outgoing SMS, incoming SMS free, voice $.25/min incoming or outgoing), no internet service.

> How much do you pay for your lunch pack on weekdays?

Good sized bentos can be picked up for $2.50-$3.50. Soft drinks cost $.85-$1 per can anywhere you go

> How much do you pay for a cinema ticket?
