Car insurance Repair

Dear Forum Team

I have moved from Australia and was wondering if someone can explain to me how car insurance work and which ones are the best to get.

I am looking into a second hand car and what sort of insurance is available and what are the ones to avoid.

Also if someone can explain to me when i have an accident what happens and where does my car get repair? I have no knowledge on this and your help will be much appreciated. Had some problems in the past and really want to understands the rules before going ahead with anything
