questions about work permit

I have a question, I am not an EU citizen, I am from ecuador,if I get a work permit through somebody that would request my work in italy, and I get a visa to get into the country and I get a residence permit through this work permit, what happens if I decide once I am in italy not to work with this person anymore, can I apply for other jobs? or since the work and the residence permit were given to me through the first person (or company) I am able to work just with this person and if I want to apply to a new job,is up to them if they would wanna do the whole paperwork all over again. Does anybody knows something about this?thanks!

Well, it will surely depend on the agreement that the employee will make you sign before granting you the work permit. The agreement will surely specifies all the terms and condition that you will have to follow.
