Studying in Honduras

Hello everyone,

Would you recommend studying abroad in Honduras?

Every year, 4 million young people from all over the world choose to study abroad for one semester or a full academic year. Would you encourage them to come and study in Honduras?

In your opinion, what are the most prestigious colleges and universities in the country/area? Are these free of charge? If not, are tuition fees expensive? Are there many foreign students enrolled in these schools/colleges/universities? What is the main language of instruction at the university?

Thank you in advance for sharing!
Priscilla

UNAH. (the National Autonomous University), (Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Honduras), has excellent colleges in medicine and dentistry. (One downfall is that there are student strikes). (Advantage, practically no tuition fees). Remember instruction is in Spanish and check to see if your high school transcripts will be accepted.

The Universidad Católica de Honduras has a new medical school, which has been spoken highly about, yet it is strong competition with the UNAH. UNITEC has a strong engineering program and has close ties with universities in the US and Europe. The Universidad Cristiana Evangélica Nuevo Milenio has an excellent program in dentistry. (In Honduras you must give one year of social service to obtain your degree, and there is no guarantee where you will be placed).

Make sure that you investigate the validity of the degree, if you plan on returning to your native country, or to continue your studies.
