Hi Ethan,

How are you? I hope you are well. I also moved to Spain some years ago because I got married to a Spanish girl. I know what it feels to be without work after having a good education.

After struggling with some bad bosses, with no business culture and work ethics. I became an entrepreneur to create my own job, at the beginning it was hard transitioning from employee to business owner but now I am quite happy with my results. I own two different businesses, a global franchise for anti aging products, I am able to sell thru internet in more than 130 countries. Truth be told I am only doing business with 28. I also have a local food distribution business, but as you know economy is not fully recovered and its still quite hard.

Let me know what you are looking for and I can try to help. I have some friends in Valencia that can maybe give you leads or help with your search.

Feel free to call me at xxx

Regards,

Mauro

I am now back to my home country (Malaysia) due to visa problem as to avoid overstaying in Spain. Will be preparing paperwork here in Malaysia for partnership visa application to stay in Spain. I am still looking for job in Valencia and intended to fly back to Spain anytime if i found a job. Would be great if I can get a job which provide me with a working visa.

Hi everyone! nice to meet you all,  I´m chelsea originally from San Francisco and now living in Barcelona. For me the experience so far has been great. Fortunately I met really nice people from diferent countries and have my group of friends here. Sometimes it´s hard since I get homesick but it´s normal. I have travel a lot around spain and europe since distances here are really small. Recently I found a part time job which also helps to know people.

Its a wonderful place...Im very happy here!!!. The people is very friendly...in general! and I love the weather!!! Today for example..almost 20 degrees!!!. Its amazing!

Her is coast, beaches, Malaga, every shopping Mall you could wish for, Ikea, MediaMarkt, everything ... all inside 3km. ***

Hi! We are front Houston TX. We are planning to move to Barcelona next year and I am somewhat worried about finding a school for my 7 years old son, although he speaks a little Spanish (our family is from Argentina) all his education is in English😯. I would like to have some information about the  educational system in Barcelona. We were thinking of an international school but they are a bit expensive and we understand that he will not have Spanish or Catalan classes. Do public or private schools have transitional classes for foreign language children? I'm also thinking of getting him a Spanish tutor here before we leave but I don't  know if it's worth it because will have to learn Catalan too. 😲
Please can someone give me an advise? This is going to be a big change for the family and I begin to feel very anxious and hundreds of questions come to my mind😣

Hola!
My name is Alan, and my girlfriend and I have moved from Scotland to Barcelona. We have been here 3 weeks now and we have been busy getting our flat to feel like a home. It's time to start work now. We are personal trainers so we will be getting sand between our toes and training people on the beaches.

Hello!  I recently moved to Sevilla as an au pair. I have been an English teacher abroad in the past. I'm looking to meet some new people!

Hi Mary,

Barcelona public schools have different programs for new comers (from any country). The language used in schools is mostly Catalan (80%), the rest Spanish (15%) and then english.

If your son is 7 years, don't worry about the language, he will make friends soon.

In Barcelona there are a lot of families from English speaking countries, in my daughters school there are 2 families per class.

If you go to a private school, or a public school in a middle-class neighbourhood he will find kids speaking english.

If you have any doubt, please don't hesitate to contact me via private messaging.

Hi. Me my husband and 2 kids are looking to move to Spain this year I am happy to do any cleaning job or bar work to get a foot in but ultimately we would like to open a homemade English sausage  beach hut but have read into it and sounds like might be hard to obtain the permits which is making me a little nervous. Any advice??

Maybe you should post in the specific forum of the city you are planning to move to. Each city/town has their own permits. Some are banning new food locals, others not, etc..

BARCELONA FLAT SHARE--- Hey! I want to rent a flat with 2-3 bedrooms. Looking for two people who want to live with me and rent the rooms. Fighting 55 people emailing about 1 room advertised is becoming too much. ;)

So a little bit about me:

In brief: 29 year old Canadian girl, working on a permanent professional Contract for an American firm in Poble Nou.

Now not in brief ;) :
I am a bit of a contradiction as a person. Im usually out of the house skiing, canyoning, exploring, etc so Im quite social and open. But when Im in my home, I treat it is a sanctuary and tend to be very quiet and keep to my room. I read quite a bit and love watching movies in bed.

I dont cook a lot, so as a flat mate I tend to not get in anyone´s way. Dinner consists of a few minutes in the kitchen and Im out :) I also clean while I cook, which I think I picked up in my experience living with other people. Its always appreciated when you can jump into the kitchen and start using the pots/pans while your other flatmate is finishing up versus walking into the kitchen and finding a day old pile of dishes.

The main benefit I bring to the table as a flatmate is that Im a pacifist. Home is your oasis, and a naggy roommate is the counter essence of that. Therefore I live in a way to be as considerate of my roommates as possible (coming home super quietly at night etc) but I let my roommates live in peace and dont get easily annoyed really.

Why Am I looking for a new room?  I am currently buying a new flat "off plan" so it will take another two years to be completed. So in the meantime Im leaving my flat where I live alone in order to lower my expenses and prepare for the fun of decorating as a I wish (and paying the hipoteca) in a short while.

Very important: I bring with me two little cute doggies (papillons), they sleep all day or if you let them, cuddle up next to you while you watch TV. They sleep in my room so no worries on that end, but I do understand its not everyones cup of tea. I am happy to do a trial if need be, with a bit of notice offered on my end in case I need to find a new home.

Youd get the benefit of cute little unconditional love without any of the responsibilities. I hope to find a great match! With kind open hearted people who are happy to share a living space with me :) Hope to hear from you!

Something extra?: I love good wine, Im thinking of taking some evening courses to learn more about Spanish wine, nothing beats an afternoon reading a good book, sipping good wine and sharing the sun with my awesome roommates on the terrace. Im also a salsa dancer but i do that out of the house ;)

If you want to meet/connect and discuss, please msg me :)

Hello and welcome!

I would suggest you take a look at Pisos and For Rent which allows you to search for an extremely wide variety of options: apartments, houses, duplexes, etc. in practically all regions/municipalities of the country.

Gives an excellent view of options to start to narrow down possibilities: rentals and purchases.

Suerte!

Hello everyone :)

Me and my partner are planning to move to the area by the end of this year.
We would much appreciate all the advice you can give us :)

We are looking for a long-term rental property (we are happy to pay for a year in advance) to start getting acquainted with the areas and pick a place to ultimately live.
Do you know of anyone who has a property to rent long term in the Fuengirola / Estepona / Malaga area?

Also, we would like to know about all the formalities and legal requirements for our move.

We are aware of the crime (mostly corruption, theft, pick pockets etc) but is there anything else we should be aware of? is it getting worse or better? Are Brits still welcome by the locals?

Any other advice?

Thanks in advance

Zia, my wife would also like to move to spain if you could please tell us what it is like for some one like yourself the adjustments ,likes ,dislikes you are finding. Thank you and good luck Bruce & Francine

Just saying hello, will have a few Brexit queries and advice to seek on my kids, who are Spanish. Lived in SE Spain for may a year now, hoping it doesn't start to get complicated!

Hi all. My husband and I are considering wintering in Valencia in a few years, when we've both retired. We'll be visiting the city Fall 2017 to explore the possibility. Would love to hear experiences of others re: Valencia for active retirees and as a starting point for travel to other parts of Europe.

Best,

Cynthia

See you,

Hello all,

Myself and my partner moved to Valencia a month ago.

We have both found employment but I am looking for something slightly more solid that my current job which is non contract.

I have actually applied with Chris for the dance job.

I am looking for something part time or full time with an English speaking requirement.

Hi everyone,

@ Katelyncronin > Welcome to https://www.expat.com. :)

I'd request you to go through the Jobs in Valencia section and eventually create your CV to increase your chances of getting in touch with recruiters.
