@ amaralk: Please send me a 150-word essay on what you did on Jan 25, 2011. And read it aloud 2 years from now - on Jan 25, 2013.:P (am kidding - I hope you are making kosheri for those planning an overnight sit-in on Tahrir)

Guardian UK
too is providing a live blog feed on happenings in Cairo. Also covering Lebanon.

Many are observing that Twitter is down. Seems to be working for me! Maybe it's the overload ... Also seems mobile networks are being jammed.

Twitter down :(http://www.guardian.co.uk/global/blog/2 … st-tunisia

oh man oh man ... my F5 key is moaning and complaining ..

Ben Wademan tweets: bencnn: We're reaching the point where we can say #Egypt is in a state of revolt. President Mubarak remains silent. State is losing its grip. #Jan25

Now on CNNIntl @bencnn "The security forces incapable of dealing with the size, width, breadth of these protests" #Jan25
??

any views/feedback from the ground.

An elegant way to bypass Facebook block .. (click blue text below)

http://www.lisp4.facebook.com

ALL: please post detailed alternate steps to route traffic via proxies - so the non-techies too may benefit from the camaraderie.

Also note: Tomorrow, news afloat indicates a strong likelihood that ALL mobile phone signals will be blocked (seems SMS is already down for the past half-hour ??). Perhaps the internet too! (UNconfirmed opinion)

Do not be alarmed - it will come on. When? .. hummmm who knows!!

Most of what I am picking up off the waves - is usually confirmed from multiple platforms. So here is a copy/paste of the latest:

'Electricity, water and all communications (phones, internet) will be blocked tomorrow - in anticipation of the planned 1-Million Man March Friday after prayer time 1pm.'

Now, this sounds like a ridiculous strategy - if the planned objective is to keep people off the streets. (duh!)

Thus, I am tempted to ignore this as a rumor (just like the ones about 97-pieces of baggage!!) - but I will still fill up 'em bottles.

Be well - and be real!

PS. Mildly surprised that our 'I-luv-Expats' gang is mighty silent in providing the lost sheep any guidance. Quite likely they too are out there. If so - hope they are safe!

I also heard Internet, mobiles and even land line Phone could all be out tomorrow..:( Goodluck to everyone who goes out tomorrow...Im praying for all my friends and family in Egypt...ISA Everyone makes it home safe.. Ya Masry Ya Masry Ya Masry!!!! :D:D:D

The U.S. State Department has cautioned U.S. tourists and expatriates the time to escape Egypt is right now. The Associated Press accounts that the State Department has established chartered planes to get U.S. individuals out, however efforts to notify everybody of the Egypt evacuation have been only semi-successful because of the Egyptian government's Internet lock down.

good luck egypt
