Hola! I am considering moving from Malta to Mallorca this year. I am 35yrs old, speak fluent Spanish but no Mallorquin, tho very happy to learn some, married to a Spanish guy from mainland Spain and we have a 1 year old son who is 'learning' both Spanish and English. We both work from home so we are not worried about commuting (though eventually school commute will be important). My questions are...
1) What are education standards like Mallorca? Any opinions on state vs private schools? I am aware that generally speaking education standards are not as good in Spain as other countries, so am a little worried about this. It would be a deal breaker for us if schooling is no good. We are happy to save on other things and pay for private school if that's what we need to do. Ideally we prefer his education in an international school teaching in English with a good mix of foreign students and locals. Any opinions here?
2) I fully expect Mallorca to be very touristy in summer. Any suggestions for areas to live (either Palma or further afield) that are nice, with good facilities but not too disturbed by tourists in the summer? Since we all speak Spanish and should find it relatively ok to pick up some Mallorquin we can consider some more 'local' areas.
Thank you so much!
