Pieter Both

Hello,

I'm interested in hiking Pieter Both. From the shoulder to the summit, it looks like I'd require climbing gears. Does anyone know if it is bolted, or if there are natural features that can serve as an anchor?

Many thanks!

Best,
yk

Hello

You can hike to the shoulder, there is about 10m of scrambling involved up a chute

Thereafter, it depends on your level of confidence and climbing ability....

From the shoulder, walk straight up to the rock face. there is maybe a 20m pitch, climbing grade is about 5a, and it is bolted, with good anchors

Then walk up to just under the boulder, where you can do a pull up onto the first rung ( there are many, some in a very poor state) or use a sling and step up

Downclimbing without a rope would need good confident climbing skills.

Abseiling is very easy

If you wanted, I know someone who you can hire as a guide

Or I could take you, I am not a guide, but I am an experienced climber
