I HAVE HAD A VISIT TO VIET NAM.....I AM A 74 YEAR OLD AMERICAN NOW WORKING IN INDIA AND USUALLY LIVE IN THAILAND OR THE PHILIPPINES...DA NANG AND HANOI WERE NICE....I THINK IT COULD BE CHEAP TO LIVE THERE...BUT GETTING A ONE YEAR VISA MIGHT BE COSTLY.....JOE

You can stay 3 months, then do a visa run to Moc Bai, it can all be done in a day.
