Yes, you are right. housing is the first priority for newcomers to Beijing. I have lived and worked in Sanlitun and CBD area for about 5 years. The most desired places to live for foreigners in Beijing are CBD, Sanlitun, Lufthansa, Chaoyang Park area, Dongzhimen, Lido and Shunyi centeral villa district for families. The average cost for an upscale rented flat in expat-friendly area is from ￥8，000-￥40,000， depends on sizes and layouts.
