Baby/toddler Playgroup

Hi, did you have any success with the Mum and baby group? I have just moved to Riyadh with my 5 months old and would be interested to meet other mums and their little ones for play and a chat

I am moving back to Riyadh from Slovenia in April this year and have a baby girl who is turning 1 year old on the 9th of April.  Interesting to see that you're from Liverpool  as i used to live there myself for 2 years before i moved to Cheltenham and then Birmingham. Did you have any luck finding a nice playgroup circle? I am also interested in meeting up with new mummies!

I'm actually from the Wirral just across the river from Liverpool.
I have had no luck finding a baby toddler group but I did discover a good nursery on my compound for babies from 10 months so that at least will give my daughter some social time haha
Do you know which area you will be moving to?

Aahhh for some reason i always consider Wirral to be Liverpool, sorry! I used to live in Riyadh for about a year and then i moved to Slovenia to have my baby and been here for a year since then. I'll be moving back to Riyadh in April and will be living at a compound called 'Sadhan' based in the Ummul Hamam area. Where are you living and how long have you been in Riyadh?

Where r u located  in Riyadh ?

If you guys are looking for a daycare, then there is one in Al Izdihar, it's called sharaqa. Majority of the kids there are expats from Egypt, Palestine, so English may not be their main language, but your kids get to socialise with other kids, and they are open during ramadhan. I called them two days ago and they mentioned they are open from 7am to 3pm and they charge 1250. Normally they charge 1600sr per month but I guess it's ramadhan so it's cheaper.

I was wondering if any mommy's and kids would like to join me in a picnic/ tea.

I'll be moving to Riyadh soon and would love to be included in any play dates etc. My son in 3 and loves playing with any age!  We won't be in Riyadh until end of August....we are currently living in the U.K. We have lived in Qatar before but not Saudi, and I've heard it's not easy to meet people.

Does anyone have any advice on preschools that take 3 year olds and information on "western compounds" or compounds in general with all the facilities.

My name is Arun and am from India. Western compounds are very expensive and may range from 50000 Saudi Riyals and more. But they have all the facilities including pool, schools, stores, etc. I have never been to any compounds but i have done research on getting a place in compounds.

I'm also from the UK.  Ive been in Riyadh almost a year now. Im currently in the UK on holiday.   I have an almost 3 year old. We don't live in a compound but I've heard Ishbiliyah compound is good also granada not experienced being there. Sorry I'm not much use.

You are right though it is very difficult to meet people in Riyadh.

I hope you meet alot of people and enjoy your stay in Riyadh it's a beautiful place.  Maybe we can meet up.

How do you like living there? I'm a bit appr hensive naturally I suppose, but excited at the same time. A new adventure!

I'm from Bimringham/Bradford. Where are you from?  Yes inshaAllah I will be returning to Riyadh in September. I havent met many families,  as I said I don't live in a compound so it's kind of hard to meet people as I've found alot of the Arabs don't seem to want to mix. Feeling nervous is natural but try and keep positive I'm sure you will enjoy it in KSA it's a beautiful place.
