UNLIMITED ADSL internet plans vs. capped plans

The internet situation here is a bit of a headache. I am in need of a reliable internet provider, preferably not capped, for my US job while living here temporarily. I'm noticing a lot of people have been on "capped" internet plans (TE Data, Vodafone, etc.) that only have 250GB or 300GB (not enough for me and my family), up to 8mbps.

Why aren't people using unlimited plans? Are they unreliable, slow, capped anyway, too expensive?

Would love experiences between the two kinds of services. I'm looking specifically at Etisalat's "up to 8mbps" unlimited ASDL service, so advice from those that have it is welcome as well.

Thank you.
