Theravada monks = Kungfu monks?

I know this is rather naive topic but I wonder whether the modern time buddhist monks can do any martial arts in Cambodia today? Or whther they were able in the khmer empire time 1400 AD ?

Khmer monks are Theravada followers since the 13th century AD.

I think martial arts have never been part of their life style, they are more related to guiding people, healing, mental advisor and so on.

Of the old martial arts, Bokator is the oldest fighting style, they would fight in uniforms as it used to be the martial art of the armies.

Here is an interesting paper of a multiple black belt fighter (also Bokator) and academic: … age_paper_
