Hi, thanks for replying, im not in Mtius yet, i will go by December this year. My skills scope are ranging from production to post production for film and commercials, that include, budgeting, crewing. Now i work in audio post production as producer but sometimes still join production as freelancer.

Standard office skills, english language written and speaking, I also very prompt in scheduling, problem solving, client service and get the production meet timeline and on budget. You think i shud have job contract before i go or easier for me to look there? thank you in advance hope ur reply will encourage me more :)and really hope theres job for me in mtius..i love the place!!

It's always better to get a contract from abroad, you won't be in position to negotiate when you'll be here. But I reckon it's more complicated to find a job from abroad.

hi,,thanks for replying, is there any agent that can help me to find job?

I want to live and work in mauritius. I am from istanbul in Turkey.I am graduated from university last year, my major is international logistics & transportation. I am still working in int'l freight forwarder industry as air/land export-import and sea export executive. I have foreign trade specialist certification and logistics management certification. Know I am learning web designing. I am 23 years old and wonder that there is a suitable job for me or not ? I need your deep and professional advices. if I find good job I can move to mauritius max. in 3 months.

I'm about to finish a 4 month interim assignment here, so my experience is somewhat limited, but I hope these observations have some value.

Mauritian companies, or international ones based here, that appreciate the potential benefit of talent from overseas will have a website - this is a perfectly valid research and contact tool. It is well worthwhile sending your CV from abroad on a speculative basis - BUT make sure it is good. Good people from RSA, India and similar are of definite interest. Check out the very many sites that give advice on CV style for advice, and do not lie about your qualifications. There are an awful lot of terrible CVs pushed out like spam that go straight in the bin. Most big/professional companies have US/EU level of employment practices - so there is a good chance of being vetted - we just fired a new starter for a false declaration.

Just rocking up here on a tourist visa and then trying to get a good job is unlikely to work. Your desperation to take anything will be obvious and you are unlikely to secure a good professional position. The Mauritian labour market is liquid enough to fill most mid-level roles from local resources.

There is a definite shortage of dynamic people with good IT/telecoms/technical capabilities; similarly, good sales and marketing are in short supply. Mauritius hopes to play well in the global ICT sector, so requires good people and will demand high standards. Can't talk for other professions, but for companies with needs just mentioned you won't get anywhere without a reasonably lengthy recruitment and vetting process.

If you are successfult, then there are the challenges of the company culture and Mauritius work-style - that's another story, but nothing a good quality person can't deal with and smile about.

Good luck to all.

I've heard about the SAPES scheme but it's seems it doesn't exist anymore, but in a BOI document of July 2007, about the Media & entertainment sector, they wrote "specific opportunities have been structured..."
Too bad I wasn't able to find anything...

and the Investor qualification doesn't fit well to a small (even if qualified) professional enterprise.

Does anybody knows if there is any incentive for qualified professionals working in multimedia/creative environment?

I hope to have some answer...
Many Thanks!
