Dealing with homesickness in Hong Kong

Hello everyone,

Being an expat in Hong Kong can turn out to be a wonderful human, social or professional adventure... with potential moments of nostalgia and homesickness along the way.

What are your personal tips to prevent homesickness?

How do you deal with such feelings?

Are there shops or stores offering products from your home country in Hong Kong? Or maybe venues with music and ambiance from your homeland?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

When I feel homesick - I rely on social media to keep in contact with loved ones, spending time with people from home also helps as well as keeping busy and trying to fully adapt...make new friends, join a sport/club, get busy, get out and explore your new area and make wherever you are feel like "home":-)

:) my answer is very easy. As an expat working in HK you have to fulfil serious tasks for the company which sent you to HK. Consequently you have to work, to work, to work so there is no time to get homesick. If one is very sensitive, such persons shall stay at home and work in their home company.
