Thinking of moving to Avéyron

My partner and I are thinking of moving to the Avéyron. We've been in France for a year and a half (Paris and then Dordogne) and speak french fairly fluently. The quiet country life appeals to us, yet it's nice to be within an hour of a city for shopping, etc. We'd like to buy a house maybe next year but want to live somewhere for a while first to get to know the life and culture.

We are both micro-entrepreneurs (gardener and Pilates teacher) and most of our clients are expats. We're looking for an area in Avéyron, possibly higher altitude, such as Aubrac. Can anybody give us their thoughts or feedback on these ideas? Thanks.
