Customer care in Taiwan

Hello everyone,

The way customer services are handled can greatly affect your views on certain brands, products, companies or stores. As a consumer, it is important to get familiar with local practices regarding client assistance in Taiwan and try to understand how things work in the country.

How would you describe your customer service experiences in Taiwan?

Do you feel welcome when you enter a store? Do you get useful tips and advice?

Are after-sales services available in Taiwan?

Thanks for sharing your experience,

Priscilla

Generally customer service in the upscale stores in Taiwan are commendable...but it helps if you speak Mandarin for many of the salespeople either struggle speaking English or don't at all.

However a 60ish white Canadian said that he was shown out the door of a store by a saleslady in Taipei upon entering the premises. And I've seen a salesman's smile melt away upon seeing a white American approach the counter in a Japanese-branded department store in Taipei.

After-sales service typically is handled according to warranty and law. I once returned a defective mini hi-fi for repair without problems.

I've never had a problem with customer care or sales staff in Taipei. Admittedly I have been back there for a good few years, but even when I lived there I found everyone friendly and helpful. Having said that, I've never had to take anything back to a store in Taipei but knowing the Taiwanese I would expect them to go by the book and in a polite manner.
