Formalities for Marriage with a Slovak

Hi am from Kenya and my guy is from Slovak, we want to get married and live together in Slovak, what documents would he need when coming to Kenya to get me? Please help

Hi Suzan,

Welcome on board  :)

Where do you want to get married - In Kenya or Slovakia ?

This could help : http://www.slovak-republic.org/marriage/

Cheers,

If you want to get married in Kenya, them look up the Kenya Marriage Act for more information about documents required by your partner.  Otherwise I agree with the above, that you should confirm this information with the Slovak authorities.

In Kenya because of visa, then we go to Slovak

In that case, your partner will need to obtain a certificate of no impediment to marriage, ideally from Slovakla. The link below will provide information on all the documents needed.

I don't know how strict Slovakia is concerning issue of residence visas to spouses, but please be prepared for a possible wait for this to be processed.  My wife is Kenyan and in our case, it took the British 4 years to give her leave to remain, but we married in the UK and applied from there. In retrospect, it would have been quicker if we had married in Kenya.

Thanks so much :)

Hi everyone, am really sad because my future husband has been denied an invitation letter for me to go and get married in Slovakia, please anyone with a new idea what we will do?

Sorry for your news.  Maybe you will need to marry in Kenya, then apply for a visa afterwards - thought that was your plan, actually.

Thanks I think that is easier

In addition to that, there will be need for translation and legalization of documents that are not in English. The legalization will have to be done by the Slovakian embassy so make sure that this is done before you start the process. Otherwise, you will get stuck at Sheria House.
