Absolutely Anything Else

Hard to bond with the baby too when it is in hospital, bet your sister had to spend allot of time in the hospital visiting and doing feedings.

Heim Pál has rooms for the parents, in fact, she slept in the same room as her daughter. She was there the whole time, from the first day to the last.

That is really fantastic that they let the parents stay over with the frightened  children.
At UCLA they didn't have the room, my son shared a hospital room with a wonderful 21 year old man. Guess 21 was the cut off age to be in a children's hospital or perhaps his treatments started before age 21 and he was still undergoing treatments.
They probably have rooms for parents for very serious cases at UCLA. I believe they have some apts. on campus for people from out of state but not sure. many parents have to come up with funds for hotels even if their child's treatments are free. It can be very hard on families.
We were lucky UCLA was a 45 min drive from our home. Good thing too because everytime his arm would snap and break I had to go there to get it set. No one else would touch his arm, it was like setting glass.
I just about cried right then and there in front of them when I saw how nice  that young man was speaking to my son about getting surgery  a bone grafting on his arm, this young man had bone cancer and was going to get his leg amputated the same day but he was cheering my son on.
Some people are really great and sadly so many others drop the ball.
My son was suppose to be in hospital for 10 days but he was released the very next day because he hated being in the hospital. He had orders for strong pain meds but never took any of them.
I was a bit shocked he pulled through so fast.
Bad part was they took out some of his hip bone along with getting some donor bone. He could hardly walk around the house. I made a make shift wheelchair at home with a computer chair, just rolled him around the house. If I had known he would come home so soon I would of rented a wheelchair.
All good , I got to play nurse, he is fine now but sometimes having a shorter arm is a hassle, no push ups for him.

With all this discussion on healthcare, what is exactly wrong with Obamacare?

Surely it's the closest thing to a national health care system?

Gotta be good for the majority of un(der)insured surely?

Not really it's a big waiting game.
Once you are in you have to wait a few months to see your first Primary care doctor, you are free to go into any walk in clinic and see the doctor of the day.
Those clinic doctors can try to put in a request for you to see a specialist if they think you need one but they usually hit a brick wall and the insurance co. makes you wait until your primary care sees you first. Months and months of wait times between one doc and another with referrals being sent in for approval first.
Sometimes in the middle of treatment the co. will drop a doctor or clinic and you have to start over again, hours spend on the phone trying to set up appointments and asking if doctors orders have been  approved or not and how soon do they think they will be approved or not. Lots of time spend on hold.
My son has average insurance through his job, he still has to pay a min. of $50. for every doctors visit. His Japanese wife doesn't work and she must be covered at his cost through his job or Obama plan makes him pay for not covering her annually,. It was $850. last year because he missed the deadline to cover her for that year.
It is bad, really bad insurance. Even specialists who took low income people before Obama insurance have had to let low income patients go. Too much paperwork and hassle to treat them under that messed up plan.
Also need approval for some expensive meds with that plan. Not all or available in generic form.
I complain about waiting for hours in HU to see the doctor and really I should be glad they will see me that day. In the US you wait at those walk in clinics for hours and the doc may give you a script for aspirin, not much stronger then that. They say you must see your primary doctor for more aid, wait and wait.Think they are hoping you either die or just go away...
Whatever was in place before that was allot better. I know when I was a kid my step-dad was able to cover all of his kids under his work insurance and we were not even his kids.
What happened I wonder, why can't even working people afford to see a doctor?
Afew years back in the US my husband and I had good jobs but no health insurance.
We both caught the flu. Went to one of those low level clinics which charged $90. each just for the visit, sitting in a dirty old building waiting to get in .
Had a shot in the office and a script each for meds. Walked out at least $365. poorer.
The meds were another cost on top of the doctor visit.

That's an insane amount of money.

A few years ago, Mrs Fluffy and I wanted an instant flu jab (vaccination) fast for travel reasons and we asked the GP.  He didn't have any flu jabs in his fridge but gave us a prescription for the meds.  Went to a pharmacy and it cost $4 each.  Went back, gave him 2000 Ft tip and we were done.  Looking back on it over years of vaccinations, I reckon we could have easily just done it ourselves.  It's not exactly difficult to administer.  In the UK, they even allow pharmacists to do it - costs about £10.

For work based travel purposes which often needs a quick turnaround, I have been going for years and years to the Epidemiology Centre (click here).   Flu there costs 2500  HUF and the consultation 3800 HUF.

Anyone over 60 or with conditions should consider having the flu jab each year - saves much misery!

That's also insane on cost and delivery.  How come Canada can do better?

Yes, they now force people to buy insurance in the US, The poor get the horrible insurance for free or very low cost but people like my son, working at full times jobs with a bit above average pay get hit hard.
$850. in fees and she has no coverage! Every year they charge if you do not have your family covered with insurance. His job only pays for him and again, it still costs him to see a doctor out of pocket.
He wears some supports in his shoes which cost him over $500. with his insurance! No the US health care is very bad unless your very rich.

Come to think of it, 2 years ago we visited the US and I got the free health coverage because we are not exactly considered well off with just SS in the US.
After waiting months to see my primary care doc I was given a referral for a CT scan of the colon area. This doctor was good but about to retire so she ordered tests etc. that she believed people my age should get without caring if they were going to restrict her later on.
I waited for my approval paper in the mail, took about 2 months to arrive to the house. Then I could call to make a appointment for the CT scan.
I called up for a appointment the the clerk had the nerve to ask me if I really needed this scan or not because they cost nearly $900.!!!! It really was not her business to ask me that.
I was upset to say the least, I asked her if she was a doctor and if not then she should talk to my doctor about it.
I didn't let it go she booked me for a scan but I spent hours waiting on the phone to report her attitude to the insurance co. They approved it after all.
When I went in for my scan about another 2 months later... Everyone was super nice to me, maybe they had heard from the insurance co. and were afraid to make waves again.
Had to return to Hungary before I could get in again to have my results read. I just read the print out and all it said was I needed more CT scans on my liver....
Have not taken care of that yet, 2 years have gone by. I showed the papers to my HU primary doctor but I am guess it was either not that important or she really didn't take it seriously enough.
I feel fine and that's OK with me, if I see yellow eyes then I might have to follow this up.
Really makes one wonder what is really going on, have to take a online nursing course on your own maybe?

"Yes, they now force people to buy insurance in the US, The poor get the horrible insurance for free or very low cost but people like my son, working at full times jobs with a bit above average pay get hit hard.

So 850 for 2 is about right.

Yes very very true! There is some type of "marketplace" where you have to buy a plan. For a healthy woman my age at the time which was 35yo a basic plan was 250 to 400 a month. The 250 usd a month plans had co payments of like 100 dollars to see a dr. And that was based on have no job. I said well since i have no job how am i supposed to afford this? The official response was either i pay the money or i get a Federal debt which if that happened i would of been denied a passport for an unresolved Federal debit.

In 2015 there still was not a requirement to enroll so i was ok. A friend of mine is still in USA and this has happened to her.

The free healthcare is ONLY for like unwed moms or like drug addicts or something. Which i do not understand as why i am penalized for not getting a kid and not being able to pay for it or not using drugs?

Even country and women's clinics were awful. I was denied services ie a normal female exam cause i had not ever had an abortion and was not on birth control pills. I asked why is that? The Dr said they as a county, and state public health fatuity they get funding from the fetuses from doing abortions. I was told that the "average 30yo woman in usa has had 5 abortions, why have you had none?" So i could not get a check to make sure i did not have hmm ovarian cancer cause i have never done this? The dr then said well "then go to the Catholics". The official documents they mailed to me was that there was no funding for me as they get funding from "various health related entities which due to my lifestyle i would not quality for"

I went to Plan Parenthood one time when i was in my 20s and they were so prejudiced, the office in my town was shut down due to the office tossing out documents for women of color. I went to a different location near me and they were bad also. 3rd location in different city they were suggesting some things that were just plain scary and then spent so much time on various ways women sale their eggs, be a surrogate and some other strange dna, tissue sale type thing. Ugh. So i do not support all they crap they say about how they are there helping women!

So i really am not worried about Hungarian healthcare! I will take my chances here as in USA it is horrible.

I am on Hungarian National Health. Had a recent unforced injury. To put it short, and to avoid anyone losing their lunch, let us just say I almost cut off the top of one finger. And by "almost" I mean there was a little bit of skin still holding it on.

So went to the hospital. The doctor took forceps, and pulled - yank yank yank - to remove that part of my finger (yes, it was extremely painful). I still have blood splatter on the pants I wore that day from that. To put it succinctly -- ouch. My wife, who's parents were both doctors, and who also is a dual Swiss-Hungarian citizen, and who has worked in the medical field in Switzerland, and who was in the room and saw this, said any doctor in Switzerland would have used scissors and cut if off.

And that is just one example of my experience with National Health. I have more. :)

But, to be fair, all the medical staff were very sweet, kind and nice. And when I got a tetanus shot at that same time, I did not even feel it. Great nurse. That was amazing. So there is that.  :top:

The problem is not with the GPs. The problems are with more specialized fields. My partner's friend is studying to be a nurse. She is on training at one of the hospitals at Óbuda where they have CT. The waiting list for it for this year is already full, and whevever a new month is opened, the timeslots get reserved in 2-3 days.

That said, waiting times at my GP in the XVIth is just unbelieveable. I can wait for hours, when only 2 people are in front of me, because the dear doctor chats with everybody, about everything. The GP next tdoor does a patient in 10 minutes. And it does not help that old patients treat GP offices as community houses, they go there to chat, even if they have no illnesses.

Happens allot to my husband when he goes to see the Dr,without me tagging along.
He knows I get jumpy sitting for long. When he goes alone every old women in the district seems to be waiting too, they see his "sweet face" start talking to him then say oh please let me in first I just need a new script, it will only be a min.
Hours go by...
In the US it is really bad, I seriously blame the system in part for my beloved sister's death.
She worked full time from age 18 but in her early 40's she was tired and was between jobs and without health coverage when she had other stresses in her life that brought on her childhood asthma.
I admit she didn't take the best care of herself, hung out in smoky clubs and drank too much at times but she was only 42 when it hit her and only 43 when she died.
She was very calm at a Christmas party at our mother's house when she told me in a casual way that she had spent most the night 3 days beforehand in the ER and was flatlined and basically dead.
She had turned blue and was not breathing at all, her boyfriend threw her in his car and drove as fast as he could to the nearest hospital.
They intubated her, the nurse was straddled across her chest pounding away, they gave her shots of adrenaline into her heart and brought her back from death.
She had one of the Near death experiences one reads about...
Ok, stabilized  her but without health insurance she was sent home the same night!
She did find a  private doctor who took payments as she could afford to pay and gave her many samples of medications for her asthma for no cost. Hard to find many doctors who would do that though. I believe she needed to slow down and get oxygen in  a tank but that would of cramped her style...
Yes, I have a very low opinion of US medical services.
I could talk about allot of other times they dropped the ball on us... Almost killed my step-dad in hospital from infections after he had colon surgery for cancer... Just more horrors then I care to remember really.

I am going in for a MRI soon, noticed the date for my test, a Sunday evening....
Strange but I suppose since the machine is inside a hospital they are open 24 hours a day or at least open every day for tests.

Nothing serious I hope.

With an expensive machine like that, it SHOULD be operating 24x7x365. They cost zillions.

Yes we sort of figured they may be short on MRI machines and the ones they do have would be busy 24/7.
Just glad I didn't get a 3 am appointment!!
Hungary could use allot in the way of medical equipment. When I had PT here for my knee they had only 2 very used up Tens machines to help get the muscles working. I went out and bought my own, got a slight discount with my health card only $50. Same sort of quality they had in the PT clinic. One would think at that low cost they could replace the old ones with cracked wires at the clinic.
Not even going to talk about the lack of real PT machines, we had equipment from decade ago. A few Swiss balls and small balls but no pricey weight machines or cycles.
One really funky old stationary bike from the 60's.
The therapists though were super and worked me hard with what they had. They set me up with a older women a few times who didn't speak English but I caught on easy. Then they brought in a sweet young women who spoke perfect English, a real sweet girl.
I have since run into her at the ortho clinic, she was visiting one of the doc's. She had a new baby and was pregnant and told me she has opened up her own office for PT and has moved to a family area. I was so happy that her dreams were coming together within these 3 years time. I was called into the office before we could exchange numbers, I thought later I should of gotten her private clinics number just in case...
I had that PT in HU before surgery but not afterwards. Should of had a redo after surgery, without it my knee got very weak, was using a cane for 18 months! Freaked me out because I was doing my best at home to exercise it.
As it turned out the only good thing with the US medical was they are big on PT. They sent me to a therapy clinic for 2 months with really good equipment, a course of stretches and exercises just for my issues.Went only one hour a week for 2 months and presto, no more cane and I can speed walk again.
I do think having all that heavy duty PT equipment in the US was a huge help, the therapists were great in both countries and they all were professionals. Almost more so then the doctors.
Another thing in the US I bought a bicycle to ride around, here in the city it doesn't work for me to ride a bike.

Oh, nothing hopefully too serious with my shoulder, have bone spurs which make my shoulder feel tingly and weak.
The fun of getting old... All good though maybe it will lead to surgery, think so, had shots of steroids but so far they haven't done much.
Just have bad bones, better then bad blood I suppose.
Speaking of bad blood... Seems sometimes the Mailman only brings bad news... Nice if we could return to sender...
Some people probably would of been happier here 3 decades ago when bullying and shouting were in vogue.
Oh well, they may be looking for enforcers in N Korea...

In my line of work North Korea might mean there could be jobs a plenty for years during their modernisation.  However, I lived through the reunification of Germany (actually I was next door in Holland then moved to Bonn soon after the collapse) and surprisingly there were not that many jobs around. It'd be dominated by South Koreans in a reunification.  And look at Cuba, when that regime collapses, it'll be all those folks in Miami heading back to assist in transformation.  So what to learn - Korean, Spanish or....what?

Healthwise, sorry to hear about your shoulder.  I think they smash bone spurs with ultrasound these days.  At least it's not so invasive.

I should really apologize for my previous comments.
I do not enjoy being rude to strangers, not a on line bully.
totally old school, would rather met "after school" and settle things with my fists then talk baloney,
Just get my "pannies in a twist" when I think or hear about people trying to control other peoples thoughts, ideas or opinions.
Wow, close call here, while I was typing this "apology" the door bell rang.
a women asked for me by name, wanted to come up and talk with me for a bit.
Told her a big no and just came out and asked if she was a Jehova's Witness. She spoke in perfect English, my husband sad that she was from Australia.
Yes, she was from the witnesses!!! How on earth did they find me here??
I told her I was not interested and I knew where they were located if I ever changed my mind, not going to happen.
Gesh, that was very odd, almost gave me a heart attack, though the thought police were at my door again...

I thought the JWs were being banned.  Obviously they are well informed. Better than the FBI perhaps.

I was asked once if I was a Jehovah's Witness.  I said "Sorry, I didn't even see the accident".

That'll probably get deleted.

Honestly made my heart go fast, thought I was having unexpected guests again from  people I never want to see again.
I honestly think Snowden was telling the truth and probably only half of it.

JWs are proxies for The Matrix? Or something more sinister?

Maybe we have to face it. We're all living in a simulation. According to Elon Musk (of Tesla cars etc) we might be.  He's even hired some bods to investigate - see here: Simulation.

Slow day here obviously.

The Matrix, yes my sister I used to always ponder on weither  or not we all just lived in a fish bowl on someone's table... This is pre LSD too!

No I get creeped out when people come looking for me, think one of our very unfriendly neighbors a single older women is in the JW's. She probably mentioned to someone in her Kingdom Hall that there was a American in the house and they should send someone over to "save me"!!
Wow, weird morning for sure and I have not even left the house!!

Has  anyone heard about the mass murderer who was captured here in Hungary this week?
He is "credited" with 70 murders internationally.
Cheers to the Hungarian police dept.!
Glad he is off the streets.
In other news...

Just read about it being illegal to talk on your cell phone and cross the street in Honolulu, HI.
First offense is $35, then $75. the $99.
Not sure what happens on the 4th offense.
I can sort of understand that, people just not watching where they are going and being a danger to others.
On the other hand... sort of very big brother.
It is a shame people just can't use common sense so that these sorts of laws don't  have to be made, what a waste of tax payer dollars having to have these rules debated over in gov.
Some people just can't chew gum and walk at the same time...

Don't believe that for a second.  That sounds like part of an OV misinformation campaign.

According to Pakistani media, Pakistan issued through Interpol an arrest warrant for him.

According to that arrangement, he'll need to be held while Pakistan extradites him back there.

Actually, closer to home, this has been a problem for a while.

In a village not far from here, a few years ago,  a girl of about 18 was killed when she had her Mp3 player on with her earphones in.  She was getting out of a bus.  She then crossed the road behind it and didn't hear a bus/truck/something coming from the other direction.  It knocked her down and killed her. Stupid death and totally unnecessary.

Sad, our neighbors son was killed in the early 1980's while being drunk and walking on the train tracks, such a waste.
He came from a family of 13 kids  but not like he could be replaced.
My yoga instructor had to remind people when our classes started to shut off their phones... Some forgot and ringing in the middle of relaxation time... rude.

Not just relaxation....I managed to remember to turn off my phone during the funeral I went to a few weeks back.  It rings really loudly (my ears ain't so good - rock bands/concert damage) and well, not quite enough to wake the dead.

Talking of the dead (it's a slow day here):

1) As we all (should) know it's a public holiday on the 1st November and of course everyone will be off to the cemetery.  We've got to a round trip around various villages to do the candles for the HU side of things. I'm not of that (or any) religious persuasion but I kind of like the activity.  In the CofE (Church of England) - I was nominally in that group - we don't have all those candles etc.  Can be quite pretty in a way down at the cemeteries with the twinkly lights.  Let's hope it's not raining (like now) or worse, snowing.

2) It's the return of the Walking Dead on AMC.  One of my fave shows - excellent zombie apocalypse but apparently George Romero (famous for zombie movies - died earlier this year) didn't actually like it as he viewed zombies as satire. Kind of surprised me that zombies could be satirical. Except the 1970s movies - Dawn of the Dead - equated living shopping mall inhabitants  to the walking dead.   And then there's the absolute top movie - Shaun of the Dead. A classic. I've got a thing about apocalyptic movies. I'll stop now.

Why don't you read about the different accounts in the media other than ones in Hungary? It takes the Hungarian media ages to catch up. Index is good but it's not perfect and there are many sources readily available elsewhere to verify.

In any case, it would be totally irrational to let a suspected hitman wanted on an valid international warrant go free while an investigation into the identity and accusations goes on.  No civilised country in the world does that, refugee or not. And no judge is going to give him bail either.

Makes me think of the old Rodney King trails.
They were held in my small hometown of Simi Valley, Ca.
Sweet little "ol'" Red Neck town...
My bro was living there with his first wife.
His wife was a blondie and my bro looks about 50% Mexican. ( That old Mohawk DNA) The cops were stopping Everyone on the freeway, the old 101 into Simi and checking their ID's to make sure they lived in Simi.Of course they never stopped her, only my bro if he was going home alone.

Zero news coverage about them doing that.
My bro being a slightly brown toned person with long hair and tats was stopped and seriously questioned before they let him go home. Just using the public road home and all.
Not a super huge surprise though every other home is owned by either a cop or a fireman in Simi.
I could go on and on about the wild home parties out there but not in the mood ATM.
Never ever trust the media, they are very biased.
I never really thought my baby bro was all that dark skinned but once when coming back from Mexico with his first wife, he was seriously grilled at the boarder between Mexico and San Diego.
They thought he was a Mexican trying to get in.
My mom was also taken many times as a Mexican American in Ca. People would get mad when they approached her speaking Spanish and she said she didn't understand.
They all thought she was lying and giving attitude.
i never even thought my mom looked very native American, oh well, what can one do about idiots?
My other bro looks pretty much like he is from the middle east, straight black hair ( in his youth) , dark and built about medium. He works at a major US airline and has a very high security clearance.
He can move the planes around on the trampac and move freely inside by himself.
He is always stopped by guards first and has to show his ID, he can be with very pale skinned co-workers with zero clearance who are not even stop or asked to show ID by guards...
That's the world we now live in folks.
Then again, I used to work as a games dealer at the casino in Vegas where OJ Simpson was arrested.
Can't judge a book by it's cover , criminals come in every race, shape and form.

The problem with foreign media is that its heavily biased. Mainly owned by far-left believers, these outlets only report what they want to, oftentimes even fabricating their own "news".

Yes, the hungarian police caught a guy, and the foreign media will be more up-to-date on it than the local news. Sure, pal, whatever floats your boat.

Why don't you read about the different accounts in the media other than ones in Hungary? It takes the Hungarian media ages to catch up. Index is good but it's not perfect and there are many sources readily available elsewhere to verify.

Ha! Really? Where do you get your information?  If the foreign media was caught spinning a pack of lies then they'd soon be caught out and discredited.  That's why no-one believes Fox News or Breitbart.

Maybe you don't get the real message which was that the foreign media is likely to be more objective as it's not state controlled and more verified - proper journalism.  What is reported these days in Hungary is sometimes conjecture, speculation and short on facts.

The main issue as I see it is that many people in Hungary are not able to easily access independent opinion through an independent media.

Don't forget to turn you clock's back tonight.

Wish everyone wasn't picking fights or getting mad at each other.
We are a minority of ex-pats and shouldn't be at each other's throats.

On a lighter note....

I have my personal issues with cell phones but that is because I like to be able to communicate face to face with people. A  sort of lost art these days. Can't even strike up a casual conversation with people any longer. Sitting in a office or waiting in line everyone has their noses on a phone.
I honestly don't get it but whatever...
Find it a bit on the boring side to have my eyes clued on a screen and not see what's in front of me in real time.
Guess not everyone enjoys hearing the rain drops or listening to the wind, people seem more afraid to not have something to do then to actually be doing something. It's their life, shame though in the end they may realize they wasted their lives starring at a black screen.

The internet is great though, was able to find family in Poland and reconnect with family in the Us just by clicking a few keys.
I also recently found a video from 1984 on U Tube which my deceased friend made with her new wave band in Italy.
A one hit wonder.
She was a beautiful women, a high fashion American model who worked out of Milan. She used to briefly date the old rocker, Adam Ant.
She was a doll of a person too. My sister was very much her best buddy, I met her a few times, pool side chats with bottle of rum, makeup parties but as a married mom I never really went out with them to clubs.
I used to think her life was so glam and wonderful.Only had to work about 4 hours a month and made a ton of money, traveled the world and had people pay her to wear their clothing. Valentino was one of her bosses... She would get free designer clothing as well.
What young women wouldn't be jealous of that lifestyle?
I told her my life was dull next to hers etc. She wouldn't hear of it, She told me honestly she was in awe of me, she wished someone cared for her enough to have a baby etc.
Later after she passed away I realized she was serious, cancer got her, her song is very sad to hear now.
You can see it on U Tube," Peggy and the Pills," song is called No body's Bride....
I do love the internet because I never got to see her perform live with her band.
So lesson learned, never be envious of anyone, you never know what they are really going through.

Apparently someone in Parliament is trying to stop the clocks changing.  I don't think it'll gain much momentum. Historically we didn't change the clocks but now that we do,  what's done is done, we can't err....put the clock back....err....;)

Adam Ant - now there's an obscure coincidence.  One of those 6 degrees of Kevin Bacon things.

I was at a college with Adam Ant's guitarist's brother.  The guitarist was called Matthew Ashman (deceased 1995).

My friend Peggy dated Adam for a bit, some other "rockers" as well.
She also has the slash marks on her wrists from them making her go nuts.
Check out her vid, if you wish, brings me back to the early 80's.
My sis used to dabble in modeling and knew allot of makeup artists etc.
Think that is how she met pretty Peggy as we used to call her.
It is sort of funny now seeing the news about all these as been movie stars now talking about their abuse going up the ladder in Hollywood.
Like this is very, very old news to me.
My sis was just getting a few modeling gigs when she married her husband, she was 19.
He put his foot down and ended it really a good thing actually, when her agent kept bugging her to meet a client for dinner he had enough of her modeling.
My niece is a stunner, not just saying that because we are related, she is a full grown large lady of age 45 now but when she was 14 she was nearly 6 ft. tall and had a body to die for... A pretty face too with green cat eyes. A bit like the Hemingway girls in looks. My sister set up a appointment with some of her old contacts for a "viewing" of her daughter for Cole swimsuits. They put her in several suits and had her walk on a platform in front of a group of people. My niece is no dummy, she was creeped out and said no way would she be interested in modeling. It was too much for her to have adults  grading her looks with a clip board. Pluses and minuses... Very horrifying for any young girl. Our mom was super mad when she found out what my sis had done with her girl.
My second cousin just won some contest to get a contract in Germany as a model, she is only 17. Her mom, my cousin is a lawyer in Germany who works for the US gov. or something like that. Not sure really ,my aunt just passed away and I hate to write my uncle and ask him too much info, he is nearly 80 and not a big fan of the internet.
Anyways, wish her luck and hope he mom is keeping a super close watch on her.
My friend Peggy worked for a short time in Hollywood at the old Playboy club before doing modeling.
She had tales of having to go on trips with modeling clients, maybe that's why her wrists had been cut in the past. She really tried hard to make it in the fashion world without having to do dinner dates but maybe she had to at some point.
They don't pay for nothing.. Those film stars get zero sympathy from me, they knew the game.
In her vid she is already very ill but didn't let on to it, one reason her song creeps me out, she knew she was dying and would never be anyone's bride... So dramatic of her.
She was one year my senior and about 31 in her vid,she passed away about a year afterwards.
She was trying to learn to work behind the camera since she knew her modeling days were numbered, guess her days really were numbered after all.
Just sad.
Even "oddball" me was offered a reading with a agent from MGM when I was walking in one of my odd outfits in Hollywood when I was 17. I went for fun to the reading but brought my friend with me , thought the whole things was going to be a  big joke with some old pervo trying to chase me around a desk... Turned out it was for real and I just sucked at reading lines, not my thing but I can see how they might hook people into getting in over their heads with the old carrot of fame and fortune.
We all know you can't really trust any media, my cousin Sydney was 2 years my senior and a child actor in Hollywood. His mom, my dad's sister had many friends in the industry in the 50's and 60's. She put him in a few films starting when he was a infant. Was in a Disney film and a few other projects when he was under 8 or 9 years old. We didn't see them much after my parents had some family fight with my aunt so all was second hand news. Story was his older bro jumped over a hedge not knowing Syd was playing by the hedge. He got kicked really hard in the head and never was the same again.Spent time in the hospital etc. Then he started to grow and not be a cute and cuddly as before. He wasn't getting any more work in Hollywood. He started doing drugs as a teenager and at age 21 shot himself in the head inside my aunts house, she found his body... I wish I could find out if he had been molested as a kid and that was the real reason he was out and depressed. Just makes me think.

Sad story but possibly not that unusual for Hollywood - lots of "stars" fall off the wagon - one reason maybe that Paul Newman, Robert Redford etc did not live there.  Need to keep their sanity outside of that kind of weirdness.   From all the rumours Weinstein wasn't the only one and we all know something about the casting couch.   Only issue is that this is trial by media. Has Weinstein has been charged with anything yet?

Latest from the UK is that harassment is common in politics as well with WhatsApp groups sharing experiences of MPs and Ministers annoying/chasing the workers. Perhaps a kind of show business as well. Certainly about power trips for some of these people. Another reason not to trust politicians.
