I thought it gracious of the VN government to allow access to what is a sacred site to both Vietnamese  and Australian peoples

I did wonder though how Australians would react if the Japanese who bombed Darwin during WW2 had sought to visit Darwin 50 years on to commemorate their invasion...

The Vietnamese are a gracious people indeed. It is also noteworthy that Australia does not get any mention in the Vietnam War Museum in HCMC

Japan was an invading force, where as Australia (led by a paranoid nation ) was a defending force. I understand there is a long way to go for Australia to reach a better agreement of reciprocity with SE Asia, and my intent was not to stir ill feeling but to acknowledge ALL who fought for freedom.
