What sports are the most popular and/or unusual in England?
Are sports facilities easily accessible there? Where and how can one find sports clubs in the region?

Without any doubt whatsoever, Football is the most popular sports in the UK. The Premier League is the envy of other football playing countries so there are so many foreign footballers who wish to come and play in the UK.
Other very popular sports are Rugby, Cricket, Snooker and Darts. The UK is particularly famous for a string of past and current great snooker players like Jimmy White, Hurricane Higgins, Stephen Hendry, Ronnie O'Sullivan and so many other household names. Darts is also one of the great British sports with past world champions.
In fact the culture in many places in the UK is to go for a drink every Friday night and play darts or snooker followed by a curry or a kebab.

Rugby also receives a heavy amount of coverage as most schools have compulsory rugby lessons, it is ingrained into British citizens from an early age. There is also such a tradition surrounding rugby, that is competing in terms of popularity with football.
The women's game is also becoming more and more popular, following the 6 nations win in 2015, and nowadays most female matches are shown on TV.
