kids, school, and after school activities

Hi! My husband has a job offer in Bergen and I have a few questions about getting our kids acclimated. We are currently expats in Switzerland and they have only attended German-speaking schools but are native English speakers. They will be 7 and 12 when we move.

They don't speak Norwegian but my older kid is thrilled at the idea of learning. At 12, is that too old to stick her in a Norwegian school? What will she do after school when I am working? The after school care appears to be for younger kids.

My younger kid has a bit of a speech delay in every language. How is the support for language delays in Norway?

Oh and are there after school activities like football or basketball? We currently live in a small town and the kids walk themselves to such things. How is that handled there?
