Import taxes for personal items

Hi All,

I relocated to Ghana from the US about 4 months ago. My personal items which have a value of around $10,000 are arriving in Tema in about a week. They are mostly housewares. But there they do contain items necessary for my work like computer and printer. I have read that personal items are exempt from import taxes but not from other taxes such as VAT (15%) and NHIL (2.5%). So does this mean that my items should attract a total tax of around 17.5% of the value of my items?
