Orlando: 50 dead and 53 injured in shootout

Hello everyone,

50 people were reported dead in an attack in the night of Saturday 11 June in a gay nightclub in Orlando while 53 were injured. More than 300 people were on the spot during the shootout.

The attack is described as the deadliest shootout in the history of the United States. According to the police, the gunman, an American citizen of Afghan origin, was heavily armed. He was shot dead during encounter with the SWAT elite troops.

Investigation also revealed that the shooter had sworn allegiance to the Islamic state organization. He had even been interrogated twice, in 2013 and 2014, by the FBI on suspicion of having connections with terrorists. However, no proof had been gathered against him.

On Sunday 12 June, Daech claimed the responsibility of the attack via one of its communication branches. The gunman was presented as a "soldier of the caliphate."

Our heartfelt thoughts go to the families of victims and all those afflicted by this tragedy.

Hate crimes are always bad news, especially one with this level of violence.
This is very likely to cause revenge attacks against totally innocent people who are Muslim or look Muslim, so take care out there.

We live in a sad world where the news is always true, even when it isn't.
The fanatic terrorist turns out to be a regular at that club, but seems to be a lone drinker with serious problems when it came to interacting with other gay men.
That explains why there was no evidence, because it was all in his mind.

Just one more loner with mental health issues, a large gun, and the personality of a shopping bag.

None of this distracts from the terrible event, but it shows us we need to be very careful when believing  what we're told is the truth.
