Expand your social circle in Egypt

Hello everyone,

Moving to Egypt means leaving one's family and friends behind. Creating a circle of friends or joining an existing one should therefore be paramount in order to fight loneliness in your host country.

But how can one develop a social network in Egypt? Where and how to meet people there?

How easy is it to meet locals? What about cultural specificities?

Share your advice and experience!

Many thanks in advance,

Priscilla

I Have not lived in Egypt for a long time but I think socialising with locals may be best done through existing friends, colleagues at work or neighbours. Gatherings like this will open doors to a wider circle of friends.

One should find all the ways to meet trusted new people to socialize with them and to put on them when he needs specially if the expat has totally different culture

Wow, it's a huge topic. In general it's connected to the purpose of the network you persue. If you you want friendship - there're so many ways.
I've had connections to some international organizations and I've been constantly meeting new people (foreigners and egyptians who can speak good English). Plus you can join communities like this one and attend several events to see who's inda house.

yup - well said.

Am thinking to start a regular weekly https://www.expat.com gathering and group activities.
Let's discuss it and share plans and ideas.
