What is the standard of Living In Mumbai in 2010?

I have been offered a Job of Rs.70,000 with free accomodation? I would like to lead a life of a Middle Class citizen there with no Hi-FI standards? Eating in good not the classy type reaturants ,But good Udupi Resturants( I have been to Mumbai twice and know what an Udipi Rests Mean). I would like to Travelling once in a while in and around India ? Will this Money be good for me? & Yes I would like to take my partner along who I guess would not work.

its the way u live. though i live abroad but i still feel that the way u maintain.... adjusting to a new place is some kind of sacrifice.... i have travelled across the world and india a lot but adjusting and sticking to the same job is must my 14 yrs experience says that never give up.... dont take chances

hey Suka

Welcome to Mumbai...

Rs 70000 per month sounds good . Plus you get free accomodation.

If you could share in which part of city you wud residing and your office location,  I can may be put a light on the transportation and the related costs.

i dont know which part of the world are you from but Mumbai is not that expensive city.
You get good meals for say $2 (Rs 100), beer $ 1.5 (Rs 75), traveling in Mumbai is also cheap....you have lot  of options here like trains, buses, taxis, rickshaws....Only thing is they are crowded :P (u shudnt worry about this if u have a company provided bus service or car)

Also social life is good here.....lotta places to hang out like beaches, movies (English as well as Hindi), malls, night life, etc.

If you need any specific information drop me a message.

Cheers...

Ye Suka
mumbai is very good city , and RS. 70000 is Good money....

Hi,

Yes its too much dont worry. Even u enjoy night life its good amount as u have free accomodation.

Given that accomodation is free,I think you will be able to manage well.

If you stay & work in suburbs then maybe you can manage easily.

Let me tell you what would happen if you didnt have free accommodation.

Even in suburbs the rent for an aprtment of 1 B(edroom),H(all),K(itchen)can be above 25,000/-
I assisted (free of cost)one expat friend of mine for an apartment at INR 35,000/- per month
If you are fussy as she was about the kind of locality, sunshine,Quite surroundings,Good view and big balcony then you can see that  you would spend half of the salary only on rent. With that not being a problem,I am sure you can enjoy.

Yes you can lead a dignified life style as mentioned by you in the salary that is offered. Regards,
