Turkey has once again been targeted by suicide bombings on Tuesday. The explosion took place on a commercial and tourist site in Istanbul's city-center close to a tram station as a bus with police officers on board was passing by.
11 people were reported 11 dead, including seven police officers and four civilians, while 36 were injured. 3 of the injured are said to be in a critical condition. Following investigation by the Istanbul police, four suspects were arrested on the same day.
Foreign nationals who are on the spot or who are planning to travel there are advised to be extremely cautious. It is also recommended to keep away from crowds.
Note that Turkey is on high alert since early this year after two suicide bombings in Istanbul and Ankara.
Our heartfelt thoughts go to all those afflicted by this tragedy.
