A State of emergency has been declared in Alberta province on Wednesday following massive blazed that have been spreading across the area. Local authorities have proceeded with the evacuation of more than 100,000 inhabitants.
Bush and forest fires seem to have triggered the blaze. These fires are common in the province during the dry season. Several neighborhoods have already been affected due to winds of 50 km/h. Many homes, as well as a hotel and a caravan park have been completely destroyed. Moreover, the airport and the area's only hospital have been closed.
Foreign nationals who are planning to travel to Alberta are highly advised to postpone their trip. Those who are already on the spot are advised to be very careful.
