Hello everyone!
Looking forward to settle in an affordable country? Why not Algeria? Find out more about the cost of living in this North African country.
Algeria is one of the 50 top economic havens for expatriates, as reveals a study conducted by Los Angeles media “GoBanking Rates”. A total of 112 countries worldwide were assessed on the cost of living in this study, without taking into account other issues such as security, culture, politics and climate.
With a population of some 39.5 million inhabitants, Algeria is deemed to be a really cheap country in terms of rent, food and transport, etc. Indeed, rent is 89.9% lower than in New York, for instance. Moreover, food and local products and services cost 66.4% and 67.8% lower compared to the same city. The study also reveals that individual monthly income in Algiers, excluding rent, amounts to some $ 400. Note that inflation ranged at 2.9% in 2014 compared to 3.3% in 2013.
Five other African countries also rank among the 50 top economic havens for expatriates, namely South Africa (1st), Zambia (6th), Tunisia (34th), Egypt (43rd) and Morocco (46th).
