Geneva: public services now available in 5 languages

Hello everyone!

Are you planning to move to Geneva? Or have you already settled there? Here is some good news for you.

This week, the Municipality of Geneva has announced that many of its communication supports and administrative documents will now be translated into 5 languages, namely English, Portuguese, Spanish, Albanian and Arabic so as to ease access to public services and thus facilitate their integration. In fact, every year, the city welcomes around 20,000 new residents with many of them who do not speak French.

Geneva has long been pointed at for its lack of access to official information for foreigners, especially for English-speakers although it hosts several international organizations such as the United Nations Organization (UNO). The city hence wants to keep in pace with its multilingual aspect by providing more resources to expatriates, whether in terms of culture, sports, child care, libraries, and even road and sewage services.

I guess it should soon be available in English as well.  :unsure

It would be useful if this ' International Community ' put in more effort to learn french.
Some have been in here for years but can't say five short french sentences !!! It's such a Pity!!! Many of them have pre-paid language classes. It's a question of give and take!! : :top:
