Private messages ??

Click on the persons name you want to send a message to, it has a box "send message"

That's on the member timeline.
But now, new change in notification is a head ache because it shows as general notification(which is unnecessary for member) unlike individual as  before.
It's better to restore the previous style!

It's not hidden, it's in exactly the same place that it has been for ages.... the envelope icon in the upper right corner of the page. Click on it and it will open the page of all of your conversation strings. 

Scroll down through them in chronological order and click on "VIEW" to read any individual conversation chain and there's a reply box in each; or click on the orange "Send a new message" button to send a completely new message.
