I have a Kenyan Driver's licence. Can it be changed for Omani one or do I have to go through the horrific tests.

If Kenya one of the countries listed under those countries that are given exemptions from taking the local driving tests, then consider yourself lucky !
Else, there is no other option but to go through "the horrific tests" !
