Expat freelance mobile hairdresser in Krakow

Hello,
My partner and I are considering moving to Kraków as he has been given a great job opportunity!
In England I work as a freelance hairdresser (it's a passion and more of a hobby) (I worked for years in a London leading salon and was a colour specialist) I plan to offer a mobile hairdressing business to the expat community if we move (as a means to meet people and continue with a job I enjoy)..... But I don't speak any language but English. Can anyone offer advise? Is the service one, anyone would be interested to use?! Where could I advertise?
Thank you

Hi Lesley,

I think as far as service goes, people will always need hairdressers, doctors, grocery stores, restaurants etc, so I think your service will be useful everywhere. How successful? That depends on you and the location that you choose I would say.

I think your best bet would be to advertise online, but before that, you are doing the right thing by posting on FORUMS, getting an idea if your service will be successful or not. There are many websites that you can advertise on. On expat-blog, you may want to place your ad in the DIRECTORY section so that people can find you easily.

Regarding language, not majority of people speak English in Poland, since they are taught Russian as second language in schools. Although Krakow has a comparatively higher rate of English speakers, still it can be a bit difficult. to find English speakers. The general rule is, most people under 40 usually speak English and most over 40 are not so adept at the language. This will make it easier for you to figure out if your target market/age group falls in English speaking category or not. Marketing to expats would mean you have a higher chance of finding English speakers.

I think you should also check the Polish government's policies and regulations for free lance work.

Hope this is helpful, if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask

To do this legally, you need to register a business (and possibly comply with other regulations).
I suggest you get a Polish speaking partner for this, as it might be difficult to understand and follow the requirements without language skills.
Also, post on the Poland forum to get more country relevant information.
