Auto strada from Barcelona to Malaga

Good morning, I am relocating to Spain on the 23rd Ocotober and will take the boat from Genoa to Barcelona then by car travel to Malaga. I have been told this road can be dangerous with people stopping an acting as policemen can anyone confirm this and what you do if they stop you. Thanks.

This does not happen so often now, it was worse years ago but the police are out in force. If you are leaving Barcelona just fill your tank with petrol and drive for 4 hours which will get you past Valencia, if you want a rest stop then get off at Benissa and take the signs for Teulada/Moraira/Javea, less than one kilometre there is a turn into an industrial park, turn in and immediately turn right and at the bottom is a café/restaurant that is perfect, safe to be in, safe to park outside too. When you finish and have rested back the same way and the entrance to the motorway is 500m and you are on your way to Malaga. You can choose which way to go into Malaga but if you choose Antequera then 10 kms on the road there is a nice hotel with good café/restaurant, beautiful views too.

In 27 years l have heard things about fake police but never seen them, l have driven that road in a car, van, truck with no problem, many police now speak well English too, take no notice of anyone passing you and waving and pointing at your car, if you have a puncture call assistance, you will see the numbers on boards at the side of the motorway. Do not stop for anyone.
