There will be the usual places open for brunch, and I am sure there will be Christmas themed things to do for the season. These websites pretty much have all bases covered in terms of who what where and when in Bahrain.

Regarding xmas. Are there any Muslim holidays near to the 25th? And since new year falls on a Friday will this mean that the Sunday will be a public holiday? Any advice on this will be appreciated

There is a holiday on December 23rd (Prophet's Birthday), Wednesday so if your taking an off on Thursday, you will have a long weekend and getting an extra day off on Sunday, it applies only to local festivals.
