Relocating to Costa Blanca next year

Hello,
Myself and my husband are looking into relocating to Costa Blanca next year and need advice on various things.
We plan to rent and my husband is taking early retirement next year, so we will have an income, albeit not huge.
The main queries at this stage are where to head to initally? We've been googling towns in the Costa Blanca, but there appears to be mixed reviews, and so any suggestions greatly received. We'd like to be close to the coast, and we enjoy walking (not hiking!) and would like to be in a mixed area of Spanish and ex-pat community. Preferably no further than 30 mins from Alicante airport.

Buenas tardes,

Javea, Moraira are beautiful areas as well as Benissa, all 3 north from Benidorm. Albir and Altea are also very nice areas and closer to Alicante.
