Working in Tan Binh district, where's best place to rent?

Hi all,

I'll be starting a new job in HCMC next month and will be working in the Tan Binh district. I've been trying to get a head start on searching for a flat/room although can't seem to find much choices in Tan Binh so I've been trying to check out the other districts. Unfortunately it's also been difficult trying to gauge which districts are within commutable distance to Tan Binh, so if anyone has any suggestions that would be great.
Unfortunately I don't drive so most of my commuting will be by foot/taxis or public transport.

Any help would be much appreciated :)

Thanks

In which area in Tân Bình District do you work? Choose some area that is in the border.

For example, you can choose Le Van Sy Street which is at the border of Phú Nhuận District and Tân Bình District. Or, some places in Phú Nhuận District, it's close to Tân Bình, but it is still a central area where you can easily go to D1 (10 mins maximum).

Which streets will you work on? It will be easiler if I know the name of the street you will be work on

I live at Phuc Yen 1, its an apartment building in Tan Binh. Convenient to Big C, Metro plus they have a pool.

Thanks for all your suggestions, that's very helpful for me and gives me some options for when I start flat/room hunting.
I don't yet have the full address for where I'll be working but it is near the Ly Thuong Kiet Road and I can see that Le Van Sy Street is pretty close by as well.

Second question, is it possible to get a decent flat share in Tan Binh for $300-$400 per month?

Hey

Are you still look ing?  I need a place to live from next week as will be teaching in tan Binh!

I know a service apartment for rent in the airport area, rate is $450/month but if you stay there long enough, you may negotiate the price.

If you guys still looking for it, please give me a message about your request. I can help you guys. :)

Hi Northernlass89, I'm gauging the market at the mo as I won't be moving over to HCMC until later this month, so will get something sorted once I'm in the city. I hope you manage to find something in Tan Binh or nearby.

Hi Sam,

I work in Tan Binh and if you're only transport is by foot or taxi I would strongly recommend living as close to your work as possible! The days are really hot and walking around is a lot more taxing than you'd think! I don't know if I've just gotten lazy but I hate walking around in the daytime now and get a xe om or taxi everywhere. I'm going to rent a bike soon. I live in Tan Binh and although they aren't advertised online much, there are places available for rent. What is your budget? If I can help you in any way I will. It's great in this district but it's not tourist-friendly so it can be difficult getting to know the area without Vietnamse. Look out for signs advertising rooms for rent in Vietnamese: CHO THUÊ PHÒNG/ CHO THUÊ PHÒNG TRỌ. Other than that, the neighboring districts are Tan Phu and Phu Nhuan.

Hope that helps!

Hi Sam. I live in Tan Binh district. A place called Saigon Airport Plaza, it is 3 buildings right next to the airport, a lot of pilots live there. It is decent - one building is serviced appartments and part hotel, the other 2 are just apartment buildings. There is a pool and spa, restaurants and a convenience shop. I would suggest you stay at the hotel here when you first come and then find a place in one of the apartments. If you are not very mobile it is probably the best choice for Tan Binh. Otherwise districts 1 and 3 and 2 are nice but they are about 15-30 min (on bike) from Tan Binh. I have only been here myself for 3 weeks but hope it helps.

Thanks Antra911 and CPearce1988 for your advice, I'll be over in HCMC next week so these details will prove very helpful!
