I am looking to travel into Lao by car. I wonder if it is possible, at all? I want to drive my Vietnamese car there. Is it allowed? Thanks in advance.

It is allowed. There is paperwork to be filled out at crossings plus you will have to buy insurance at the border too for the duration of your stay in Laos.Need to have all the appropriate Vietnamese paperwork to show that you are the owner plus you licence.
Have a Vietnamese friend who does it each year. Plenty of motorbikes travel across each year too.
