How to be a language teacher in brazil?

I am currently residing in brasilia and learning portuguese. While i am living here i have decided to  work in Brazil teaching english and Greek. I am specialist of TOFEL and IELTS preparation.

What things do I need to know?  What should I not do?  Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Unfortunately teaching English in Brazil pays near-slave wages and schools will pay you only for actual class time. They do not pay for class preparation, correcting homework, etc., which must be done on your own time in most cases. They don't pay any of the benefits that most Brazilian workers receive because they do not HIRE teachers as employees, but rather sign them to a Contrato Particular de Prestação de Serviços (Service Provider Contract).

Also the schools in Brazil generally only contract new teachers in late June and December; and for the most part they want only native English speakers (Americans, Canadians, British, Australians, etc.). You would make much more teaching private students, but it takes time to recruit enough students to make a decent income. You can count on it taking anywhere from 6 months to a year to build a sufficient student base in order to support yourself. You will also need to advertise in neighborhood newspapers, set up your own webpage, print and hand out pamphlets, etc., in order to recruit.

thanks a lot mr james for your answer it really helps a lot to start my work now to do it privately,

Strange how in Brazil after a while we start to forget the foreign languages we learned at school . Must be because its not comon the hear people speaking on the streats another language than portugues . Even if you won't make a living by teaching english don`t stop using it because you will forget it . James is right , the schools prefer native speakers , especially in the big centers but some schools from the small cities won't say no to a fluent english speaker .

Thanks a lot claudioD for your nyc tip, i agree with you but i didnt try yet any school in the city area yet, mr James gave me an advice to do it privately coz the schools dont pay here a lot, I know that schools here they prefer native speakers but i have my MBA degree from wales, I gave exams for TOFEL and IELTS. I am working on my own website and leaflets soon i will launch my own website, I can teach GREEK as well coz my BBA is from CYPRUS.
Thanks a lot for your good tips sir.
