I have registered in saudi council of engineers. I have paid an amount of 1250 sar.i had also got membership id.& it was mentioned that it has been updated by yakeen service & almost 10 days are over.
But still i had not got the iqaama.after how many days shall i get the iqaama?

Hi Anil.desh,

Please note that i have created a new thread with your recent post on Saudi Arabia for better view and interaction.

I invite all members to help you :)

Thank you

Stéphanie

Actually it is up to your employer, it should not take more than one week after registration.

Well no one can say how much days exactacly it will take as it all depends on your employer. You Push you Mandoob (Saudi guy in your HR department who co-ordinate with jawazat office) to do it as soon as possible. Follow him up daily.

Honest answer, 1 day.

I'm interested in this topic because I know I will not be able to travel outside KSA until an Iqama is issued. I have friends in Oman, Bahrain and UAE who I'd like to spend my off days with. 1 day seems a stretch even for the most efficient HR. I've told myself to expect it to take 4 to 6 weeks.

If they don't lose your passport.....your estimates are correct.

Hopefully I'll be too busy with my probation, unpacking, making new friends, socialising and exploring to be bothered with the wait.

Trust me, I've seen 1 hour too...I kid you not.

Wow. Really? I'm amazed. Wouldn't it be great if that was the norm.

It's vitamin W - w for Wasta (connections)

From what I heard, the process is two steps:
- as soon as you arrive, get your medical tests done (from the approved medical center of your company), the results are available the next day online
- as soon the results from the medical tests are available, the company applies online, the iqama is automatically printed and available for pickup next day, the company representative goes to physically receive the iqama (residence/work permit card)

What really happens:
- get your  medical tests done
- the company will sit on it for a month before they apply, and keep telling you this is Saudi Arabia
- you bang your head on the wall

Didn't you go through this process  :/

@ Susan - only getting the Iqama won't make you eligible to leave the country, you also need to apply for the exit-entry visa (multiple or single) after getting your iqama, which means adding another few days to week for the whole process!!

Thanks, I didn't realise there was another step to ensure easy travel in and out of KSA. I'm going to request a multiple entry/exit (now that I know)

That's the first option. The second would be "a Crate of Vitamin W for Mr. Wasta."

Holy jamoli....crazy.

Here is the step that i'm known to and have seen.

- buddy came in on new visa
- they took his pic at the airport
- gave his passport, pic and all other documents
- labor card, profession etc, (2 days)
- New iqama issued (1 day)

He didn't have to do medical.

all of it was done in total of 3 days.

Multiple exit/reentry visa is not a very commonly issued visa

Your Sponsor can provide you with the Multiple exit/re-entry, you can make full use of it if you are leaving in Eastern Region in or around Dammam/Khober as you can travel to Bahrain on weekly basis.

Is there any particular reason for that?

I believe it's not common for West region expats, heard for Eastern province it's very common because of Bahrain.

They need a causeway to Egypt here in Jeddah :D

One of The reason is that most of the expats are not entitled to get multiple exit entry visa, since it depends on their profession.
Also some cream organisations provide one year multiple exit entry visas and this facility is not available for other companies.

Risk of pirates...if u know what I mean.

Takes a day. Longest thing would be you getting the medical and the results and maybe even your company uploading their insurance details to the database.

Why oh why oh why did you bother to say your an engineer - that just causes problems there are lots of other job titles you could have used to avoid the council and sponsor your family to come.

Multiple entry exits are common, they only problem is if your out the country when it expires or your iqama expires - so best to have them cancelled and re-issued every 4/5 months and a new iqama every 8/9
