Hi Guys,
I am planning my overseas trip for next year and one thing I am contemplating if i do a TESOL qualification here or overseas.
A brief overview of what I plan, I am taking 12 months off work to travel S.E Asia and an attempt to live in Vietnam if i like it, if it doesn't work out I can come back here to Australia and go straight back into my job.
As I don't have a university degree a TESOL is a must as I understand i'll be working on a tourist visa and at a lower rate but that's fine as long as I earn enough to survive i'll be happy as my motivation isn't about earning huge dollars.
I was looking at completing a TESOL cert with http://www.ataonline.edu.au which will set me back approximately$2000 - $2500 this includes 5 days of classroom training and completing 3-5 electives online, they also have an affiliation with http://hjconsultancysaigon.com.au/ which charge $479US to provide a range of employment service and opportunities to you.
I guess my dilemma is I might outlay $3000 for this and not even use it as I may just travel 12 months (will have enough money) and come back to Australia which is why I was thinking of obtaining a TESOL overseas once I realise I want to stay long term.
One thing I liked with http://ataonline.edu.au/ they seem to have quite a few contacts and job offerings on their facebook page for work in other countries, I'm not sure if other TESOL providers overseas have similar.
Thoughts on the best thing to do?
Thanks
